three poems
Monkey On My Back
For the junky it's the junk
When it's summer it's the heat
For the wino it's the drunk
When shoes don't fit it's your feet
For the lover it's the love
When the lights go out it's the dark
For the pusher it's the shove
When you're the swimmer it's the shark
For the worker it's the rest
When you're young it's getting old
For the student it's the test
When you're the slave it's being sold
No one is completely free
There's a chain you always miss
There's always something you lack
There are ties you may not see
Hanging over some dark abyss
Cause we've all got a monkey
On our backs

The Days Go By And Drugs
The days go by and drag us along
They hold us back from singing our song
We live and dream, we jump and scream
And watch the world run by
Wishing, always wishing, we ARE late for the sky
Life is the pain, fortune's our gain
Love is the rain, let's do it again
Where does the future end
How did the past begin
Why are we running to then
The pain comes and goes, as everyone knows
These troubles surely must pass
And the lies that we tell, will send us to hell
But only through heartburn and gas

Bodies
Everybody wants into heaven
Nobody wants to die
Somebody learned a lesson
Everybody tells a lie
Anybody can make it happy
Somebody has to try
Everybody works together
Nobody has to die
Anybody can tell a story
Somebody's asking why
Nobody gets any glory
Still somebody's going to try
Anybody got a question
Somebody answer please
Everybody run and hide
Somebody's going to sneeze
