Illustration Friday: Trouble

one of my favorite scenes in Pinocchio is when Monstro wakes up just as the brave puppet swims by his eye. so, inspired by the memory of that image i came up with this. sort of a 50's scifi pulp magazine look. while working on this illustration the song T-R-O-U-B-L-E by Elvis Presley was stuck in my head. my first impulse was to illustrate that song, but in an effort to further challenge myself i'm digging deeper for inspiration. ignoring my first idea (& sometimes my second & third) and going with the less obvious solution.i used adobe illustrator for the "inking" linework and photoshop for the color, shading and textures. enjoy the illustration and thanks for stopping by.

Wow, this is great! How much time did this take you? Looks like a lot. The texture and colors of the creature are really amazing. Such a fantastic vision. Truly inspiring work.
it took roughly 6 hours more or less. hard to say 'cause i took several breaks to watch battlestar galactica.
Wow--nice job! love the texture of the beast especially!
